Dear friends,
Is there any experience of disassembled and refurbished a ABS pump? I got a possible diagnosis of a faulty valve in the pump.
Thanks Daniel Saxlid

When my pump died it lead to a "long" pedal that needed to be "pumped" to get good braking. It did not happen all the time and was variable in terms of how much pumping was required. Quite disconcerting at the track. At first I thought it was boiled fluid and I upgraded to big reds for better cooling. It didn't help for long. Then we replaced the master, then the slave. After trying everything else we replaced the ABS pump with a salvaged one ($300 instead of $2500) and all has been great for 3 years.

The problem is when I am breaking REALLY-REALLY hard - left front locks up and the car drasticly turns to the left as a consequence. When breaking normal->hard the car breaks evenly. I do not know if that applies to this but I am also running R-tires.

Dear Tom,
"After trying everything else we replaced the ABS pump with a salvaged one ($300 instead of $2500) and all has been great for 3 years."
You make me even more interested in a overhaul of my existing ABS pump!
How old was the "new" pump you installed?

Dear Bob,
Thanks for your reply.
"Daniel - I got Tom's pump from a salvage yard. It was from '92ish model with unknown miles.."
Should I not care that much about milage and age and just try another pump then?
But still, nobody has any experiences of overhauling these pumps?

Daniel,
Do you have any anti-lock function at all?. My brakes work like "normal" brakes without anti-lock. No warning lights are lit. My car pulls a little bit to the right under hard/lockup braking.
Maybe it's the ABS computer which is malfunction?
