How much of these car's bodywork is galvanized metal?
I know Porsche galvanized a lot of the car, but are there areas where they did not? The roof, perhaps?
If I'm going to be driving this thing on salty Minnesota roads, I need to know so i can take protective measures...
Thanks

All of the body structure is double sided Thyssen galvanized steel. Has been since late '76 911s. At the beginning of the I series('76) model run only the roof was not galvanized, this was rectified by the end of the run and has been the case since.

After taking apart a '78 SC over the winter and taking it down to bare metal ... I would suggest that you make sure that the seal between the glass (front and back windows) and the metal is in good condition. We did not encounter any rust (28 yr old car) in those areas, but did find some crap that had accumulated over the years in these areas which might have led to rust/corrosion.
Outside of that possible problem area ... we ecountered absolutly no rust on any body panels.

I wonder what the weather is like where that car has been used though?
I definitely have a few small spots of rust - and I know many people who have similar :
1) Where rear bumper meets rear wing, just behind rear wheel.
2) Near rear window seal
3) Just above windscreen seal on passenger side
They are glavanised - but in a country where it rains / we have salt on the roads they are certainly not rust proof.
