There's no pading on mine either.

I agrea at 35 mph airo is not to important.Going down a super highway at 100 or so(and more of us do that on occation than would admit here)hit a rise or bump and catch some air it might be important.

My cars mechanic came across an update about the undertray. This was about 4 or 5 years ago when he tore down the engine. The recomendation was to remove the padding and lowering the trailing egde of the panel.this inceases the amout of airflow throught the lower engine compartment with min effect on the airo.It works on the same therory as a diffuser or splitter. This was not an official Porsche publication.

The local P car main dealer replaced mine with a new one recently which was quite different to the old one. The new one had no padding on it and virtually no foil panels inside - just plain plastic or whatever the material is. Much lighter and cleaner than the old style - I wonder if the replacement panels are different spec to originals. Still took mine off though for the hot summers we get here.
