In my experience, the g-pipe is slightly louder. Both are louder with a cat bypass in the mix. The primary muffler is more restrictive, so I chose to go with that one.

There are a ton of Q&A's about this on the PCA website:

Do a search on 'exhaust' or 'cup pipe'

The primary bypass provides better weight reduction.

I went with the secondary by pass. I hear it makes more torque that way. Also easier to get to the plugs.

Steve
I was in the same position as you a month ago, couldn't make my mind up. From what i've read the G pipe is slightly louder but the cup pipe is many drivers choice. I've removed both silencers and there can't be much difference in weight, they are both heavy. I guess i may be proved wrong here as soemone would have the actual weights.
I purchased the G pipe, the sound is great, i'm not sure if i would like it any louder but if the cat ever gives up then i'll find out. Which ever you chose you won't regret it, the sound is deep and growls when you floor it. You also get some popping when changing down through the gears.
As for increased power, i can't say that i noticed any difference in power but it's supposed to add a few bhp.

I also went for the g-pipe (sec. bypass).
My reason was that the sec. muffler broke and the reduction in cost and weight was big enough.

I have both cat-bypass and G-pipe on my 964 - I like the sound, being very off-beat at 2000ish revs ! The noise really does fade away if you are not on throttle tho, making cruising still quite comfortable.

I see you are in Perthshire Steve - I stay in Bridge of Allan, so if you'd like to hear it then drop me a line !

I currently have just the G-Pipe and it sounds great. I want more, though - any suggestions as which will increase the noise more, Cat or Primary bypass? Note: noise is the only ingredient in the mix here! Performance is not on the agenda, particular after my spin earlier in the week hee-hee!

I believe it's not recommended to remove both primary and secondary mufflers due to loss of back pressure. So with a G pipe to make it louder the cat bypass would be an option. It would be worth noting you may need a new Oxy sensor for the cat bypass tough as they are easily damaged when trying to remove it.
I'd like to hear the difference between g pipe and the g pipe-cat bypass combination though.

Steve,

I have a cup pipe and cat by pass, and I'm within spitting distance of you if you want to hear it sometime. Johnny G Pipe is just up the road, and he has the opposite set up (cat and G pipe) so could have the full selection of zorst noises to consider.

Hopefully going for a (primary bypass) cup pipe myself this weekend, and after hearing those various sound effects, i cant wait ! Thought it sounded great over the standard sound.
Will also be slipping a K&N filter in at the same time for some extra decibel heaven.

Tho' the best sounding combo on there was the cat-bypass & secondary bypass with open airbox.

Do you clean a K & N filter or just throw away after x amount of miles.
