well, its installed , i also installed a premuffler instead of the cat. the car is a little louder than i expected, but its not that bad. after 15 min of driving it wasnt loud anymore
i will try to get a sound clip when the stupid rain stops
you will need a good muffler shop to fit it, since the opening was 2 small for the cat

Oh what a drag. I was hoping for a plug and play installation. Is your pre-muffler larger than the cat? Do you know what they had to do to make it fit or what the difference in sizes is? I have one of these on it's way to me from Pelican. Got their last one at $300 also.

no, my premuffler is smaller than the cat. on my older car, i had a cat bypass and a primary bypass and the car was not as loud as it is now.

Any droning or bad resonance with it? I'm assuming the pipe diameter is smaller than the outlet on the cat? Did the shop happen to tell you how they got it to fit? I'm hoping I can install this myself. I wonder if it can just be flared a bit more.

I got the Fabspeed muffler and am extremely pleased with it. Is a work of art. The build quality is in my opinion fabulous. The price is a bit high, but it's the real deal and gives you the option of running dual outlet.

I bought the next to the last Borla from Pelican. I am having the same problem with the ball connector from the cat to the muffler being mismatched. The metal donut is too large to fit into the Borla. Neither Pelican or Borla could offer any suggestions since it has been out of production for a long time. I've tried grinding down one end of the donut and will be trying that otherwise it looks like a muffler shop to have them expand the flare or maybe a smaller donut. Somebody must have installed one of these at home and has some help for us!

Man I was really excited about getting this now it sounds like it might be a pain. Does the pipe diameter look like it's smaller than the stock pipe? I just assumed since it was made by Borla it would be a good product. Maybe that's why there aren't a lot of these around.

i didn't know pelican parts sold them. anyway, i can guarantee you that you wont be able to install it the way it is . you need a muffler shop to cut the connector to the cat and weld a wider one. they couldn't just make it wider because of its angle.
no droning or bad resonance, sounds like a ferrari 360 under load NOT KIDDING

Yeah Pelican had 2 that Burt put up on the 964/993/996 board. I guess Roger and I got the last 2 unless some more pop up.

OK looks like a trip the a muffler shop or maybe to a buddy I know that is a good welder.

360 under load eh? Sounds like it will be worth the effort! Thanks Mike.

The grinding work paid off. The metal connector must be made from old tank barrels because it took forever! But it is sealed now with no leaks around the connector. The install was pretty staightforward except for the last #@%^&$$# bolts for the heat crossover tube that must be iintalled by some magical German tool. Not easy but finally done. I only had a short run today to gas up for an Autocross in Colorado Springs so I don't know about noise/ power yet. The best thing was the wieght loss. I replaced my primary bypass and the stock rear muffler and saved 21 lbs. Will post later about noise/resonance/power. See ya!

No they were $300 + $26 shipping to OH. Seems to be the going rate for the last 3 of these. Mine was waiting for me on my doorstep for me when I got home from a local Porsche show today. Pretty cool. Kind of like opening a time capsule.

Looks like they got the pipe diameter right. I wonder why they welded on such a small flange? OD/ID confusion?

Might have to try the donut mod Roger. Sounds like it was a success? Can't wait to get this hooked up. Actually looks like a very high quality piece except for the flange diameter.

Drove to Colorado Springs today(150 mile round trip) to the AutoX that was cancelled. The Borla isn't any noiser than my previous combo under cruise or in normal driving which is nice. Under hard acceleration it seems to be a little noiser but not much and it didn't attract any ugly stares from the public which is good too.Idle in the garage seems to be a little noiser also. Don't notice any difference in power. With 150 miles of combo driving the modifed collar doesn't leak so it seems to be the poor boy fix. The problem is in id/od of the flange. Borla made it 3"od instead of 3"id. Still overall it seems to be a good mod for my RSA.

That makes sense. Can't wait to get mine on the car. I'm hoping it will cool down enough to go out in the garage and play muffler shop.
