Painted rockers?

So the other day I walked out of my office to find a nice black 964 parked next to my RSA. It really struck me how nice and rounded it looked compaired to my GP white car. It looked lower and more sculpted but looking at the fender clearance it was actually sitting about 3/4 of an inch higher than my car. I thought it had a body kit on it or something, then it hit me, the bottom of light colored cars all loose about 3" to the black underpan, which is drawn as a straight line across the bottom of the car. It basically gives you the optical effect of rasing the car by 3" and cuts off the nice curve of the bumper up under the rear wheels and the flare under the front of the tire. Dark cars just look so much better. Since I have seen a few lighter colored cars, even some that have sold on the RSA website, that have painted rockers, they all look better. Has anyone done this for the look? or just because they needed a respray? I'm off to find a can of paint...

I did paint mine when I replaced the rocker panel rubber seals -- but my car is black to start with. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

p.s. flat black "Krylon" indoor/outdoor plastic paint - still looks good over a year later.

The one in the picture i posted isn't mine.
It is a really nice C4.
I think all 964's had the lower rockers painted with the black except for some of the black cars. I have seen some black ones with and with out the lower black painted treatment.
Just for the record this is mine...

Mine is the same way. Its pretty low but still looks SUV with the black rockers. I have some paint left over from doing my rear spoiler so like Marc when I change the shrunk rubber chord I may reshoot the rocker and front splitters at the same time.

Well, I have a black car with black rubberised-paint lower rocker panels, but I think the car shown with the white on white looks thick in the middle, especially compared with the bottom car, in particular. The silhouette is much cleaner with the black at the bottom IMO.
The additional damage and dirt that the light rocker bottom would show (look at Marc's "before" photo, above) would also make it much more labour-intensive to keep looking good. But I'd be interested in before and after photos, too.
