Oh, okay - thanks.

FWIW, I had orginally asked the dyno question tongue-in-cheek as, at that time, there was a lot of debate about the value of dyno's and their variability.

"If the a/c cooling the intake air did produce more power gain that it consumed then we could create an ever larger a/c system producing ever more power . . . and end up with perpetual motion!"
A blower takes hp to spin , but gives back more hp than it takes .

I put a heater on the block and a cooler on the fuel tank ?

Some of you might remember this thread from a few years ago..."Performace Enhancement Study - II"

A bit of the data (HP has not been corrected for gearing used on dyno)
Here are the plots for today's runs. I will show stock and one of the drilled airbox runs and then a plot with all three.
Porsche specifications are as follows:
SAE max power: 247 HP @6100 RPM
SAE max Torque: 228 ft-lbs @4800 RPM

The data are summarized as follows:

1991 964 Carrera 2 (July 1990 build date)
Ambient temp: 48 deg F
Barometric pressure: 30.27 in. steady
Humidity: 81%

Run 1: Stock configuration
SAE max power: 229.5 HP @6100 RPM
SAE max torque: 217.1 ft-lbs @ 4700 RPM

Run 2: Drilled airbox
SAE max power: 227.6 HP @5750 RPM
SAE max torque: 216.5 ft-lbs @4800 RPM

Run 3: Drilled airbox (plotted with the preceding two runs)
SAE max power: 228.9 HP @6200 RPM
SAE max torque: 214.0 ft-lbs @4800 RPM

Under these conditions and an otherwise stock 964....basically, the same numbers....

From the pictures it looks like the trumpet has a couple of holes drilled in the bottom of it.

Out of cursiosity, has anyone ever mounted a pod filter to the underside of the spoiler in some fashion with a flex pipe insted of fixed pipe to the engine so it gets the coolest air possible?
There is also an upturned pipe offered through maxspeed that positions the mouth of the intake directly under the spoiler which is being discussed in another thread on this page. The concern obviously was what to do when it rains and your intake fills with water!

Where can one purchase an intake as shown at http://p-car.com/diy/intake/ for the 964? I've only seen the carbon fiber one so far.

On the 964 snorkel are you able to just turn it 90 degrees so the inlet faces the engine lid instead of the engine compartment?

From the looks of things turning the current snorkel would place the intake under, or partially under the side of the engine compartment and restrict the airflow. Don't have my car at the moment so I can't check for sure and I can't say whether or not the fitting would allow a 90 degree swap anyway.

I don't think so. I suppose you could always add your own elbow to its mouth, as an experiment?

That snorkel is a factory Porsche part, however you need the 993 airbox to make it work.

Porsche put this airbox and snorkel on Robert Linton's car, that tells you something.
