Very blue 964
I'd like to introduce myself and my blue 1991 C2. Just got it and I'm already very attached. The bonding process is going nicely. I've been reading posts for a few weeks absorbing knowledge. No shortage of interesting opinions here.
I'd been interested in a second car and was mulling a few choices in my price range. I like the E36 M3 coupe and early Boxster. Fortunately, I was began reading the Wayne Dempsey maintenance books to get familiar with the 911 engines and accessories (rest of car). I subscribed to Excellence and began searching the internet for 911 stuff.
I decided to acquire my first Porsche. I also decided it should be a 911. Initially I looked for SC's or 3.2 Carreras. I talked to a friend at work who used to wrench on them and he advised I also consider 964's for performance benefits.
Found one on EBay that looked real nice. 113K miles, bought from auction, no service history, etc. I talked on phone about it a bit. The carfax showed Florida residency. Got pictures of clean engine bay. I threw the dice and bought it then. I waited a couple weeks for delivery to Boulder. Got it, gassed it up, went home and checked it out, oil level, tire pressures. Then I drove it up into the Rocky Mountains. Sweet exhaust sounds! Goes like stink!
Interestingly, I found previous owner's business card under driver's seat. Emailed him then we talked for a bit. Nice to hear about car's history.
Gunbarrel Imports in nearby Niwot did the PPI (post purchase inspection). She'll be there for a week for general service with valve adjustment. And CV boots. And new fan shroud heat outlet.
The blue is very distinct. The paint code under the hood says L37C LG. The '91 Technik doesn't list 37C under standard or special colors. Tahoe blue?
Also, best wishes to Doug&Julie who's post I read. Hope your search is going well.
