Default Measurement needed

I am, or have actually, machined up some upper shock and strut monoball mounts. Unfortunately, unless my spherical bushings themselves come in tomorrow my installation will have to wait another week. /sigh.

So I have some time to double check something that keeps nagging me. I have not been able to get a good measurement of the upper rear shock mount stud locations. I can measure the close together set, but the other single is very difficult. I've gotten one and used it, but it is easy for me to fix if someone would be willing to get a more accurate measurement. I think you need the engine out and a set of calipers. A tape measure is not going to get me any better than i have now.

I know there are a few people without their engine. Anyone willing to take the measurement?

Got a 90 C2 Cab - don't know if the cab makes a diff on those measurements but I'll stick a caliper on them - though - where/how exactly?

There are 3 studs in a pattern around the shock tower. 2 are close together and a third is on the opposite side (inside oif car). They are not 120 degrees apart as one would expect and that is why i am having trouble. The measurement which would do me the most good is between the outside of the studs. Think of lines connecting the top of the studs to form a V. What I need to know is the length of one of the sides of the V from the outside of the studs. Does that make sense?

Yessir - that would be easy. Will let you know the dimensions by tomorrow. Maybe even tonight but I have a date with the wife so not promising anything.

Hi Heirsh,

I have a set of H&R off the car and for the 3 bolt dimensions I get 3.238" +/- a couple thou for the longsides and 2.219 +/- for the one short side. Center to center.

Heirsh, watch out for measurements between years, The rear shock mounts changed late 1990, so the MY 1991 and newer are different than the pre 1991.
I assume you are looking for the pre 1991.

Ok so from another similar thread Jasko posted a picture showing that the stud pattern did indeed change as well. Good catch Colin, and thank you for the information.

Chance, if you can I'd love to get your measurements as well. If its useful I could post pictures of the hole pattern for anyone needing this information in the future in this thread.
