Default Here today, clutch tomorrow!

Hi Guys,

The beast is going in tomorrow for a clutch, taking it to Chelsea Carrera. I just got off the phone to Will now he's aiming to get the car ready by the evening. Fingers crossed.

Do I need to wear in a new clutch???

Next step will be to get it lowered me thinks.

Cheers

Sunil

Should go very easy on it for the first 500 miles or so. Depends on how much stop and go driving you do. You need to get the new disc, flywheel and pressure plate worn in evenly without too much heat which can cause glazing and slippage.

Sunil, what made you decide you needed a new clutch, was it slipping or hard to engage gears?
Out of interest what sort of money are we talking for a clutch replacement.
As for the lowering, mine was already lowered when i bought it and i never realised how high they ride as standard, but go for it, is definitely looks better sat low.

Hey All,

Just dropped the car off this morning, I was experiencing terrible slippage. Engaging gears was not an issue. The guys at Chelsea Carrera seemed very nice, told me to give them a call at 2pm to get an update. Would be nice to get the car back tonight.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Well I just called up and they said to collect the car at 4pm. I'll update with a full report.

Cheers

WOW!

How light is that clutch! It came up to 1k in the end but the car pulls like a steam train now. It scared the sh*t out of me.

Hahaha reminds me of a quote -

I'm glad you like it Sunil! People always ask as to what they should do when they first buy a 964. I always think of replacing the clutch (I know it's expensive) but it changes the whole driving experience!!

Enjoy it!!!

I have to say it's an amazing experience feeling all the power getting to the wheels. The good news is that the flywheel was fine, I might go for a rebuild at some point.

I couldn't take the smile of my face. I'm heading to Oxford tomorrow, I hope the weather improves!
