Default Want to replace DME relay for preventitive maint- which brand?

I noticed very infrequently a sputter when going part throttle- could be the DME relay going out (I believe it's the original one in there). Some people on here have mentioned getting an "updated" relay (although that could be our UK friends meaning the US translation of getting a "new" relay).

At any rate, I wanted to get the best relay there is- went onto vertex and they have one listed (Part number is listed as OEM# 99361522700, no brand listed). Also went to Pelican, which has 3 relays listed for 1989-1998 911's:
--> Brand: "Wehrle-por" Part 141-951-253-B-M5206
--> Brand: "Wehrle-VAG" Part 141-951-253-B-M6206
--> Brand: "Stribel" Part 993-615-227-00-M76

I'm throughly confused

To further confuse the situation, the picture of part 993-615-227-00 on the vertex site shows a square relay, whereas the same part on Pelican shows a round one.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

you want the one that has the 993 number. The original was a 944 number I believe

Agreed, the 993 # is the latest/most reliable part available.

Interesting. I didn't realize that a relay could cause this type of behaviour. I figured it was either working, or not.

I'd love to hear more comments on this type of behaviour as I sometimes get a sputter at part throttle.

Cheers,
Dave

Dave- My sputter is very rare- definitely not every time I drive it. I recall people suggesting occasional sputters could be caused by a need to: change to the relay, and/or clean of the negative battery terminal, and/or change fuel filter, and/or change cap/rotors. It's cheap enough to change it out as preventitive maintenance and mine is original so I'm just going to change it and keep the old one as a spare in the glove box, as I hear a total failure will leave you stranded (although in 17 years of 911's I've never had one go on me)

Thanks for the suggestions- I'll order the 993 unit.

-Andrew
