Default Something is draining my battery power...

Hi all. Something is drawing power from my 964's battery while the car sits overnight, et cetera. I don't even know where to begin to look...

I have a brand new Optima Red Top in my C2 that I know for a fact is in good shape... However, if I let my car sit for more than a couple of days without starting it, the voltage (i multimetered it) is drained down to about 9.95 V which isn't quite enough for it to start. That happened to me last week and I had to jump-start the 964 with my Evo.

Basically, the battery is getting drained of about 0.7 V per day on avg.

Any ideas of where I should start looking first?

Thnx again!
Harry

hood light and engine bay light are both going off upon hood/lid closure... i will check the glovebox, though in recent times i don't even remember the light in there working at all... i rarely go in there...

will check the glove box (big enough for only one glove, btw)

Turn the ignition key off. Get out your multimeter. Tape down the switch for the luggage compartment light. Disconnect the negative cable from your battery, check the current flow by connecting the meter between the cable terminal and the battery terminal. Pull fuses until you find the one that's controlling the high current draw, the current will drop. There're many possibilities. Mine's the $CCU$. Bad grounds in door switches are common. Be systematic, and you'll find it. Good luck!

I seem to recall faulty HVAC controls (transistor inside I think) will leave your fans on at very low speed which will cause drain.

another possibility is a window switch stuck in the UP position. Happened to me. Remove switch, clean contacts.
