Default Track Day Photo's

Because I had the best looking car in the race, some gratuitous shots from an exhibition race on Friday (with NCRC/ARC before the real races with PRC on Sat/Sun)...

Lookin' good Tom. I am bummed I missed that event. Stupid work, it always gets in the way.

I am thinking my next day is Buttonwillow on Jun 3. I am crossing my fingers about getting out to Utah for a run at Miller on the 22nd, but chances are low.

Kenny: CDS is at Sears Point/Infineon on June 5th. I should be there instructing (work permitting).

Garrett: Yes, Thunderhill. That was the warm-up lap from an exhibition race on Friday with about 30 cars. The PRC races on Sat & Sun were about 42 cars. It makes the first 2 laps really interesting. I saw more cup cars this weekend than I've ever seen before - over a dozen in each race and plenty of other cars like mine.

Tom - you need some stiffer springs in the rear to keep that inside front foot down in the turns - it looks like my old 65 911 when I ran it stock!!!

Damn, the turtle looks great Tom, I need to stop by and see it in the flesh again one of these days! Really awesome! Thanks for the pics.

Garrett: Why not, it's only money. I actually set my suspension a bit softer lately because the car was too unsettled when I'd go over a berm. I also got wheel hop as I took corners like 14 at TH (which is one of the photos on 3 wheels). I will continue to play with the set-up to find what makes me fastest (and firmer is one option that would not be too expensive as JIC makes a set of stiffer springs).

Howard: You could come out to the track and I'd even give you an E-ticket ride.

John: I think you have wing envy. That dinky GT3 wing in your avatar just doesn't cut it.

On the serious side, yes it is a big wing. However, at Thunderhill (the track I see the most time at) there are two high speed turns (1 & 8). I'm about 10 mph faster in each of these turns now and believe that there is more speed to be had, if I had the ***** for it. I used to do 8 at about 95 and just stay on the track. I'm now doing it at about 105 and staying on pretty easily. I think the wing and front splitter contribute to the ability to go faster through these turns.
