Default Changing oil, what kind of Mobil oil should i use?

Hi

I'm going to change oil, and I have problems finding a place where I can buy Mobil 1 5W40.
I have found Mobil Synt S 5W40 and it is on Porsche's list of approved oil, but I can't find out if it is bad choice compared to Mobil 1?

Any insight?

Go for the 0W40.

I also use 0W40, and it gets cold here in the winter.

Not to long ago there was a thread on motor oil choices. It was pretty good.Ofcourse there was no agreament on the best oil to use.FWIW As far north as you are 0W40 sounds like a good choice.Unless you plan to run one oil in summer and another in winter.

I have now read the other post about oil (sorry for not doing that first!).
-> Eggplant: Why do you recommend 0W40 when you in the other post state that you have noticed lower oil pressure using 0W40 and that you will change to 5W50 next time

I think I will go for Mobil One 5W50 as this seems to be the safe bet.
I only drive in the summer which means in temperatures between 5-30 celcius.
My car has 107 000 km (67000 miles) on the clock.

Thanks for your input.

Well Mike, I'm in california where the temps are higher (esp in town traffic). The lower oil pressure per se isn't a problem but the temperature is akiller to everything in the engine. 5W-50 is good but according to Mobil, their 0W-40 has pretty much the same protection as the 5W-50 except the viscosity at 100°C or something. I think there was a post regarding this by Indycam.
I actually have 5W-50 now but am refilling with 0W-40 since I can't get the 5W-50 easily in the US. But I did notice that oil consumption was a bit higher with the 0W40 than the 5W-50. I watch oil consumption regularly.
Read this article:

If you are only driving during swedish summer then the 5W-50 or 15W-50 is fine. I've noticed a change in engine sloshing ( that noise of oil flow) with 15W-50 vs 0W40.
