Default 964 buying drama!! need advice!!UPDATE!! NEED HELP IN SAN FRANSISCO AREA

hey guys, i finally found the car i really want to buy, but everything went wrong and i need your advice, here is the story:
2 weeks ago, i found a car online at a dealer in California . apparently the car was on consignment, and the seller was motivated to sell. one of the managers i was working with and i came to an agreement on the price on friday of last week, and he was supposed to fax me all the documents needed to complete the sale so i can wire them the money on monday. that day, i called the dealer and asked for him, but i was told he wasnt in, so i called his cell to find out that he quit his job. he referred me to another manager there to take care of the transaction, but after speaking to him, he raised the price 5k more cause he thinks its a steal at the price the other manager and i agreed on.
anyway, iam very pissed, i dont believe the bastard quit his job the same day we were supposed to close the deal,
now, i remember him telling that the owner of the car (female) wanted a little less than the price i was willing to pay, so iam in IF......
NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION:
i do have the vin # , is there way to find out the original owner through the
vin#, that way i can contact her directly and bypass the dealer??
thanks in advance

run an autocheck, then put an ad in the paper classified there asking for help to find the owner, then contact the porsche dealer if it is not where it is being sold and see if they have serviced it, and if they know the car, then do the dame with the PCA in that area, somebody has to know it, if not they will feel your pain and try and help. Those are my best shots, I ran into this with one not to long ago, and I even called the department of motor vehicles and they couldn't help.

Good luck Mike... and I agreee, seems like they are trying to jerk you around.

Carfax or autocheck should give the current registered owner, right? I thought that was one of the only things it CAN do for certain.

I have a Carfax in hand and it doesn't tell you the name of the current or previous owners. As mentioned already, privacy laws are there to protect us and will slow you down.

My advice, given absolutely free of charge and worth just as much...

Find another car. Cross country drama, unknown car, shady dealers and inpatience is a good reciepie for disappointment.

Did you have anything in writing or e-mail format from the previous sales person. If you do the dealer must honor the agreement.

One of 2 things I'd try:

Call the x-salesguy cel phone back and see if he will give you the owners name & number

or

Place an ad in the San Francisco Craigslist describing your situation and possibly the car. You never know, someone may know the owner and put you two in touch.

I believe that you can have the ex employee give you the lady's name...it is so irritating to have to cope with dishonest and unprincipled people.

i already called the sales person that quit hoping he could give me her name , but it looks like it was a work phone since someone else that works there has that number.
anyway, thanks guys for all the replies, will let you know what happens.
by the way its a roadster, not a speedster( not a big fan)

" the car is in san fransisco. i cant buy another one cause its roadster, and they dont come along very often "
I could go up and have a look see . I could see if the fired sales person is "fired" or just playing .
I could ask to see the old paperwork on repairs . Old paperwork have names and numbers .
Don't walk away , play the used car dealer game .

All I ask in return is to get to drive it to Miami if you buy it . 964 Roadster , SF to Miami , priceless !
