Deadpedal robbed my legroom. Any other options?
I recently bought an aluminum deadpedal from Ultimate Pedals and finally test-fitted it today... Not good news overall.
- The pedal is nice. I'm not disappointed with its quality.
- Once I put it in the car, it stuck about an inch and a half back from the original footrest area. This sucks for me because I'm about 6'5" and can use all the extra legroom I can get. I was expecting to lose some legroom, but not 1.5". (I was thinking closer to 0.5" at most.)
- (Try to imagine this...) I wear a size 15 shoe so my foot is naturally wider than most peoples'. With the deadpedal installed my left foot can't move from the deadpedal to depress the clutch pedal without the outside of my foot being "caught up" on the inside of the deadpedal, which makes my foot slip completely off of both pedals--obviously not safe. Once again, if the pedal was more form-fitting to the car, my foot may be able to sneak around the edge of the deadpedal. ??
Is there anything (or another brand of pedal) that is more form-fitting to the contour of that area there around the factory "footrest"?
Are there any suggestions of what I could do to protect this area's carpet from getting messed up by my shoes if I can't find a deadpedal that will work for me?
Thnx,
Harry

I have the Rennline pedal set (including dead pedal) and love it. I am 6'1" so need the leg room too.
The dead pedal hugs the curves of the floor and you lose no foot room.
