Can I buy just the throttle cable cam?
I noticed the throttle cable cam is cracked this afternoon - can this be purchased by itself or am I going to have to buy a whole kit? Is it a big deal to replace just this part? Man, this thing sure ain't no '99 Miata!

I can't find the plastic piece anywhere in PET, it might be part of the cruise control (which I don't have) cable assembly? The metal support is part #964-110-219-02 and the cable assembly is part #964-110-025-02. MSRP on the cable is $87.20 so you should be able to find it for around $40USD if that is what you need?

I've just noticed this problem on my 91 C2, also, having two cracks propagating up the throttle cable cam. Has anyone had any luck finding a part number for this, or an aftermarket supplier that sells them? I couldn't find it in PET, nor could I find one for sale at a few of the larger vendors.
Thanks,
Ron

My shop gurus said that cam doesn't come by itself from the "factory" and that to get it you need to buy the whole throttle housing for C$1K. I'd hope parts like this are available somewhere without buying the factory package.
dutchcrunch, I'll be interested in what you come up with. Alternately, if there just isn't a source, I'll look into an aluminum fabrication replacement.
Eggplant Cab - I can't believe how similar our two pix are... honest, I didn't notice your post before putting mine up. From the sounds of things, this isn't that uncommon a problem, so surely there must be a reasonable solution out there somewhere.

i went to look at my car, i think this is your cruise control, do you have cruise control. the throttle does not have a plastic cam but is all metal except for the throttle cable retainer. i would bet that this is what you need and its about 30 or so dollars and comes in a kit with a spring and new retaining clip and what not. my car is 1990 so check that that part number applies to your car as i dont want to say that this will fit yours too. hope this helps you out. ordered thru discount porsche parts dealer like sunset for that price.

dutchcrunch, I'll shoot another picture from a bit further back, showing the whole engine bay so you can see the cam's relationship to the surrounding bits and pieces. I hope you're right - $30 is a lot more reasonable than $1000 for that piece.
My understanding is that the 1990 and 1991 were not that different in many regards, even across the C2 and C4 models. I do have cruise, so you could have the solution as JasonAndreas originally pointed out - but it disturbs me a little that my shop guys didn't figure this out when I asked them - I sent them the same image I posted here.
