Default Brake line questions

What's the difference between the DOT approved SS brake lines and non-DOT approved brake lines? Weltmeister makes both kinds, but their website doesn't say anything about the difference.

If I remember correctly, the DOT approval has to do with the hose ends. Found a 1996 data sheet on this....The hose end is tested to simulate the movement of the hose over time due to steering/suspension movement. The test is a continuous circular movement at 800 rpm for 35 hours.

The standard is FMVSS No. 106 and HERE are the changes (and discussion) that were made to the regulations in 2004.
