I know this isn't really your question, but I just bought some frozen rotors. I had these on a previous car and they have been fabulous. They are just cryo-treated and slotted stock rotors.

I've never heard of Sebro but, after a year with Zimmerman's and reading what people say about them here (after buying them), I would not buy Zimmerman's again.

Snaged from the internet . No first hand from me , so I went and searched .
"With regard to brands of rotors (I've been selling BMW rotors since 1978),
my own preference is as follows: (1) Balo (the finest German made
rotors-rarely any problems) (2) Factory BMW (now made in Italy) (3)
Zimmermann (mainly Porsche-available for older BMW models) (4)
Textar/Lemforder (less expensive German rotors-decent quality) (5) ATE (they
make great hydraulics-brake rotors & drums subcontacted out of Italy-I've
had about a 10% problem with these out of the box) (6) Brembo (factory for
Ferrari...I haven't had very good luck with these for BMW) (7) Sebro (worst
German rotors I've encountered; not too bad for drums)."

I have Sebo (or is it Sebro) front discs on mine (rotors to you Colonials), and they seem fine to me. In fact I am informed by my specialist (a man who knows a thing or two) that Sebo are currently the OEM supplier to Porsche for 964 replacement discs, so the ones in the Porsche box are exactly the same. The discs are zinc coated in the central area, and have not rusted.

They seem OK to me so far.

IMHO I would just stick with Porsche rotors. You can shop around for prices on those andthey don't work out *that* expensive - as I have said before I wouldn't skimp on parts socrucial for safety. (It should be noted here that I don't actually know whether buying the Zimmermans is actually skimping, I just assume that if something is a lot cheaper then....you know...)

I bought Zimmermans around a year ago. I did 3 DE's with them. Gave them a fair amount of abuse. So far so good. No cracks here. I bought them from Foriegn Intrigue, I believe they're a sponsor here. I did not pay $140 each it was more like $105 each.

Not exactly. Porsche guards their special need on rotors and brake pad formulations VERY closely. The manufacturers that make them for Porsche CAN NOT sell the same pieces on the aftermarket. This is true for zimmerman, Pagid, Textar, etc. The Porsche direct pieces are nothing like what these manufacturers sell to other distributors.

I agree with Marc about the zimmermans. Any rotor should be coated not to rust. When they don't take this step it makes me wonder what other shortcuts they made. I whipped out a can of spray to fix it, but it still makes me wonder. I won't buy them again.

On the other hand the set I am using seem ok. I have developed a bit of a shimmy in them again, which I can't blame on the rotors at this time. I am certainly not trying to start a debate on whether you can warp one of these things.

Not only that but the actual OE manufacturer for the past 10+ years (SHW Automotive) does not currently sell discs to anyone in the aftermarket (that I'm aware of).
