Does anybody know what is the standard/default length of the wheel studs on a '91 C2 ?

I want to order new studs to accomdate 5mm spacers.

I know it doesnt answer your question but I dont believe you need longer wheel studs for 5mm spacers.

Standard wheel bolts are p/n 904.341.671.00 and are 45 mm long (49 mm total length, 45 mm not including head, 33 mm of thread).

Well, I have 17 inch Boxter Twist on the car now. I bought 5mm spacers to try and bring the tires out a bit more. After installing the spacers and then using steel lug nuts, I could see that I was not getting a proper amount of the nut screwed down on the lug.

I took the spacers off and put the steel nuts back on ... the lug just barely protrudes from the top of the nut ... hence, I want to install longer lugs.

Thanks Marc .. I presume the "45 mm not including head" is the shank length.

I have 5mm spacers with stock studs. According to Adrian's book that is the longest you can go without longer studs.

Wheel type makes difference and that statement is probably based on original equip.

Longer wheel studs are available lots of places. Pelican for example.
I will be mounting twists soon too... guess I may need to take a look at longer studs.

Yes, I looked up the p/n and, since the car is in pieces about 10' behind me, I pulled out the handy digital vernier caliper and measured.

Marc
p.s. the need for longer studs will also depend on wheel offset as that can consume some of the shank length.

I think that's Slappy's problem, the wheel offsets are causing him to just be able to fill the lug nuts with thread w/o spacers. I would assume a 5-7mm longer stud would allow for the spacers to be safely installed. As has been stated before, I would highly advise anyone that is adding simple spacers to aquire at least one open steel lug nut to test for just how many threads are being grabbed, especially if you run on track or at speed..

Slappy, I am in the same boat, I need to add longer studs. Where were you planning on getting them from?

I was planning on going a little longer with open-nuts to allow me flexibility later. Just an idea.

I have been searching the internet for the best price ... so far Paragon Products (Rennlist sponsor) seems to have the best price ... $5.71 / stud ... 52mm (7mm gain over the standard 45mm stud).

Other lengths are available too ...
