Default question on my 1st DYI

Im going to tackle my 1st mobile 1 oil change today.I heard somewhere that there may be 2 filters on this car-1 oil filter+1 engine filter?is this true on my 92 964 or is it only for 993s?

Hi GT-three,

There is one oil filter an air filter and a fuel filter as far as recall.

When changing the oil it may help to punch a hole in the oil filter and drain it first. make sure you have something underneath to catch any spillage when you remove it. Also many might say its not needed and a waste of money but I found the inexpensive tool for helping remove the oil filter was very helpful (from pelical parts).

There's 2 drain plugs, but 1 filter. The drain plug on the engine, and the one just in front of the right rear wheel.

if you poke a hole in the oil filter do it before you open the plug on the oil tank and it will suck most of the oil out of the filter like Howard said. Put a piece of tape or a screw over the hole before you unscrew it !!!
