This actually happened to me last winter. I had it fixed. The rust was very small and I had it fixed at the time the windshield went in. The painting cost me too dearly, but I'm happy to have dealt with it.

Dave,

Besides painting what else did body shop do to repair the rust bubble ? If I may ask, what was the approx cost for the rust bubble repair. Thank you.

I guess I can't say knowledgeably what he did, but it was brought back to bare metal, the rust all removed, and refinished. the front cowl where the windshield wipers are, the pillars and part of the roof were all repainted, as well as the sun roof. It ended up costing me a grand, though the estimate was quite a bit lower. These cars just grow the bill like mad!

Unfortunately, I'd actually say $1K for that work isn't a bad deal at all, considering it's hard to get in front door of a body shop these days for less than $500, for even the most minor of jobs.

Yeah, I suppose. The estimate was ~5-600. The actual was 1300. The negotiated result was $1000.

Sorry to see this Dave! Hope it all gets fixed up quickly. My insurance covers glass without a question, guy comes to the house and replaces it.. nothing out of pocket.

Gary, thanks. Actually, the glass was covered. I chose to do the rust remediation at the same time. I chose to use a Porsche Specialist to install the glass; just to check him out. It turned out to be a big mistake. The glass install was a debacle and cost me even more money. I should have had the paint guy do it. Live and learn.

At any rate, the whole project took place this time last year! This thread got resurrected for some questions.

Hope all is well.

Cheers,
Dave
