Intermittent Front fan + ABS Light problem??
To all the clever souls out there.
Not sure if this is a problem or not, but there are a couple of thing I need to clear up / get help on?
When I start the car, the ABS light stays on until I blip the throttle or rev the car enough, when driving, and it will go out. Why? It is a problem? How do I sort? I have had 2 Porsche mechanics look at this and they don’t’ know why it does it or think it is a problem.
Also
At low speed / revs around town, I notice there is a front fan / motor that comes on intermittently. It seems to be separate from the main 2 front blower fans but could be the same ones? Why? Is it a problem? How do I sort? Front blowers and rear heater motor were replaced a few months back so these shouldn’t be a problem. I read a thread a few weeks back talking about the resistor / Temp Coil in the rear blower motor. Would this have anything to do with it?
I had a problem with the battery draining so I recharged it a few days ago, but could both of the above linked to a low battery problem. When it was low before the stereo went off until you revved the engine.
Most of my / the wifes daily runs are short and not at speed so mainly low rev's. Not sure in these cold UK days if this is draining the battery?
Any help would be welcome.

I have also noticed a front fan comes on periodically in my car - never figured out where it is or what it is, and I don't even notice these days.
For your ABS light - when I got my car, my ABS and PDAS lights would stay on until I hit 3000rpm. Obviously a C4 is a bit different, since my lights are supposed to come on when the car has been sitting and the brake system is charging - but mine stayed on even when it was charged until I hit 3K rpm. And the culprit was..... the clock.
Don't know if it will be the same for you, but for me it seems the clock caused the problem. Replacing it solved it completely - seemed to make some difference to the current from the alternator. There are instructions around for resoldering the connections on the back of the clocks (they are known to be a problem) - might be worth a try.

:confused HI,
I have 91 Turbo 2, and i get an occasional, fan/motor noise from the front of my vehicle. I have always ignored it and put it down to the fuel pump?
Have any other 964/965 owners had this noise??

I'll give this a go over the weekend - Cheers.

Chris : No - car is not sold, and the adverts have all finished. I am pretty sure I still want it to go though so will advertise again in spring - the other day, the Focus was in for an MOT so took the 964 to work. On the way there I thought : it just feels like any other car. I was home at lunchtime and got a call saying the MOT was done - since it was just around the corner I went and collected the focus - and put the Porsche back in the garage.
There have been many days when I've taken the focus to work and gone home at lunchtime to swap with the Porsche just 'cos I fancied it. I never thought I'd see the day when I already had the Porsche out but swapped back to the focus!
Marc - had to get rid of the carpet 'cos I'm allergic to dogs (make me sneeze) and Sandy has a dog. Wanted the original floorboards sanded, but that's not possible for various reasons. So got a quote for "real wood" boards on top of the existing ones - pretty expensive. I wouldn't mind - but we were warned the dog claws would destroy it anyway so I'm thinking perhaps laminate will be the solution even though I don't really like it.

Laws have changed now - dogs have passports. It takes 6 months to arrange it (has to be 6 months from when the micro-chip is embedded in the dog) - then she can go through customs with her passport. The modern world eh?
Dog looks a bit like a german shephard (smaller though) - but is a cross breed.

Dave - 964 like a focus!!!!! maybe an RS Focus but still, that's quite an extreme view you've got. I hope you are feeling OK...old age isn't setting in...Your not that priest, Father Austin Purcell 'the most boring priest in the world' off Father Ted with the dull voice!!!!!!
Keep the razors locked-up!!!!!
Good luck with everything

And what about a plastic linoleum floor covering, maybe fact simile wood panelling, or something bland colour wise, or fact simile "green grass", now that would be practical... Easy to install as its pre-glued... Strip the carpet, clean the existing wood panelled floor and lay directly on to that surface, obviously something that suits your tastes... It’s practical, not expensive and a great DIY for young lovers... Another option maybe for you, Sandy and woof woof...
