Tx for all the replies. The one that Burgass posted has the stripes I was thinking of. I probably passed the age limit for such stripes but I think I will try them out this spring. Just hope the paint wont come off when I peel the stripes off again.

Yeah!! Go for it Kris!!.. Looking forward to the photographs!!..
The clear coat protecting your met. paint is very durable, no risk in theory to peel it off, unless it’s been repainted and re-clear coated to a badly preped surface. I plastic pin-striped my MX5, removed them after a few weeks and there was no problem, Should work... I hope...
Good Sunday,
Marc...

Hey Kris, have you ever plastic striped a car before or are you going to have it done. It’s actually very difficult to do. If I can give you any advice, do it on a cool day using soapy water that will not evaporate so at all times you’re working on a wet surface that has already been marked by masking tapes prior to striping. You must have a thin plastic blade that you work over the plastic surface as you’re applying the strip eliminating the air that’s trapped between the surfaces. Four hands are better then two... As one is rolling out the plastic and keeping everything wet, the other is working over the surface... There must be something on the net that will give you a better idea, check it out... I used to do this on the modern plastic yachts, and it was always a pain in the ***...

Yeah, the 1980’s... Thanks for the flash-back Howard... Almost 06:00,.. I better walk my dog before he does some re-spraying on my P-car tires in the garage...
Anyway take care,
Marc and Cooky (Jack Russell).

The stripes have an actual use in racing since they increase the visibility of the car. They make it stand out at a quick glance. It is a safety issue. So they are a good idea on the track, but on the street? I think it would make a 964 look a little silly. After all what do you have to prove?

Re the above - arent they also supposed to identify the drivers side of the car, but i appreciate that vipers etc have 2 stripes centrally...
was thinking of having one put on for the trip to Le Mans in the summer, dk blue on silver if poss...

1/ I live in a very rural area where police is not really a concern, if I would be driving a Deutz-Fahr tractor with stripes they might look up.
2/ Luckily we don't have such problems here, if I get challenged it's by BMW diesel company cars.
I'll have to wait for the weather to get better before making a decision, the cold is fogging my mind. All the best.
ps: my neighbours daily driver, he looks down on me
