Default suspension upgrade qoute

Just got a quote to install Bilstein shocks and Eiback Pro-Kit springs and corner balancing for about $2300 US. Does that sound reasonable? Based on prices from Pelican, this quote seems reasonable. Was thinking about doing the install myself but not sure if I have enough proper tools or jacks to do a good job. The Pro-Kit will lower the car about 1.75 inches.

Seems high to me, but then I used H&R turbo springs with the Bilstein shocks and did the install with help from RallyDog. Cost me $850.00 for parts, but I got the springs for half the cost. Corner balance and alignment should be 300 or so. Is it worth the time to install yourself? At $1000 I would say so.

I agree with Hawk911, I spent about $1100 - 1200 for the parts (Bilstein / H&R) and $350 for the 4-wheel alignment and corner balance. So is it worth $700 +/- for someone to do it for you?

The job was relatively straightforward, and took the good part of a lazy day.

Parts = $1100, Labor = $350, Time = 6 hours, Experience = PRICELESS

Don - pay me $1000 and I'll fly to Ontario to do it for you.

I paid US$1600 for my H&R coil-overs which I am installing myself and plan on another US$350-400 for the alignment, and corner balance. US$2300 for shocks and springs (even with alignement/corner balance) seems high.

Don, was your price just for the labor or for parts AND installation?

A corner balance and alignment should cost in the $400-$500 US range. I was quoted about 10 hours by my dealer for the installation and of the shocks and didn't do it. Probably saved about $1000 dollars.

Jeremy, maybe I wasn't that clear. The quote was for $2300 for the parts, installation and balancing. But from the feedback, that still sounds high. If the job takes 10 hours as you were quoted and my shop charges $85/hour, then that's where the $1000 savings comes in less the balancing cost. I guess I am confused on the parts cost. Pelican advertise their suspension kits from $2000 to $2800.

I just bought the Eibach spring set and new Bilstein HD's for my car, $933 inc. shipping to CT with the discount. Great deal!

Gary,
Did you previously own a blue C2? If so, could you post your ride height and alignment settings (and whatever else you did to it)? I saw a photo of it and the way the wheels filled the wells looked perfect.

It's actually Amazon green Jason and I still own it. It has H&R's on it now but whoever put them on left the original shocks in and as I am not sure just how long ago it was done I figured I would just change out the H&R's while i'm in there.

Here is my 93 as it sits now, I believe the Eibach's won't change the height. As for the alignment I leave that in the hands of Hairy Dog Garage, they set my 91 C2 up with a touch of negative camber and i'll aske them to do the same with my 93. Be glad to measure fender height when all is done, most likely in about two weeks (have to finish painting my track car 1st!).

That's the one! The 18" wheels with a touch of negative camber really transforms the look of a 964.

What about the "don't put 18s on a 964" warning from PAG?

Chris, what was the PAG warning about. I have 18in wheels and see no issues with rubbing or handling. I didn't notice any warnings in Adrian's book.
