Ping or Knock on Startup,

Ping or Knock on Startup,
Hello all:
When my car is fully warmed up and the temp needle is fully in the middle of the gage I have a start up noise.
When I start the car a pronounced Ping or knock occurs just once Then goes away.
Is this a Knock that occurse from timing advance or low octane?
Car does not ping or Knock any other time .
Anyway it concerns me ..... , I searched teh archives and found nothing exactly like this..
