Question Removing left heat exchanger - UPdate

I am trying to remove my left heat exchanger and have a question.

I think the fitting above the exchanger that is accessed through the exchanger itself is a allen bolt or nut. Is this true and does anybody know what size it is? I don't have an allen wrench long enough so will need to buy one.

I assume there is something up there needs to come off to remove the exchanger. If not, that would be great.

Update: Thanks all for the responses. The only tool i could locate on short notice to get the hex huts off was a Craftsmen long allen wrench with the plastic T-handle on the end - worked like a charm.

The socket head nut is size M8. I would spend the extra $10USD and buy the Snap-on extra long allen socket, part #FAML8E. The nuts are soft and this is one place you really want a tool to fit perfectly or your in for a long night. And for your future sanity or for the sake of whoever works on your heat-exchangers next time I would replace the nuts (part #999-085-001-02 and M8 locking nuts part #999-084-052-02), lube them with Optimoly HT or High-temp copper paste and torque to 23 Nm (17 ft-lb)

Good Luck!

Perfect. Thanks Jason.

It's amazing how much stuff you know about these cars.

i removed mine with a standard hex socket and an extension. long hex's tend to flex (like a torsion bar). if you have a real stubborn nut it could be a problem. also you may have to heat the nut with a torch...this really helps alot.

Like Jason, I opted for the extra long 8mm. I tried a short one on an extention but it wouldn't fit through the hole.
