Default What does this switch do..??

Ok...i feel silly asking this because i just know the answer is going to be simple.
I have a switch under the instrument facia and i have no idea what it does (yes i've tried it). My P-car is RHD so under the clock i have the switch to adjust the time. Under the Oil temp/pressure gauge i have two switches, one to operate the sunroof and the other unknown switch. What does it do?

Default Power mirrors

The little switch next to the sunroof switch on the left side is to select whether the passenger's or driver's mirror moves when you move the little joystick on the door.

Ha!

Don't feel bad. When I first got my car, I could not figure out why the car had a power driver's mirror but a manual passenger mirror.

Sorry, but when I finally got the car of my dreams, I was more interested in driving than reading.

That is very funny. My son once drove with me to the airport in my Cab 2 where he dropped me off for a flight. When we arrived, I pulled up to the departure drop-off and removed the keys as I got out of the car. I hugged my son good bye and tossed him the keys for his first ever occasion to drive the Porsche. He was grinning from ear to ear in anticipation. As I was going through airport security some 15 minutes later, my cell phone rang. It was my son, sheepishly asking where the ignition key went.

At first, yeah, but nothing was where I thought it would be (where the ignition key goes, for example). [1] And there were all these odd little switches that did things that I had no clue about. Like the weird rheostat on the dash that controls the interval for the intermittent wiper ...

[1] I still have to remind myself that the key goes in the left hand, not the right. At least I always remember that reverse is up and to the left, not back and to the right, like every other car we've got.

I'm with Marc.....all i wanted to was drive it!

All those other ***** and switches could wait.

I never had the need to change the position of the mirrors as they suited me perfectly when i purchased the car. Even when my wife drives its all she does is move the seat forward and then i just move it back for me. Its while i was replacing the manual switch for the spoiler that i noticed the "unknown" switch, couldnt think of what it was for and just decided to make use of the vast knowledge on Rennlist.

I end up going left in the Chevy. It makes me laugh. Then I occasionally go right in the p-car. I'm all confused . . . until I get rolling again in the p-car and remember what it is I've done (in purchasing this jem) and then I really smile!

I think I read the manual two or three times before I figured out what all the switches did. Or, at least, which one was which.

Cheers,
Dave

Bought the car, drove it home, then had to find the manual. OK found it then I spent hours trying to figure out where the pictures were showing me in the car...could they make this more complicated. Butttt now that I know where most of the switches and rheostats and toggle switches are and what some of them do I'm feeling wicked smaaat. My fear is that I'm going to push a button and as the flatbed brings my car into the mechanics he will say...oh my God you didnt push thattt one when the engine was running on level ground did you? I mean come on...I've got multiple gauges for my oil, some of them only accurate after its been running for awhile and then there is the "correct" way to check the oil. But man I've always lusted after the 964 and now I have one! Ohhhhh yeahhhhhhh. Thank God for Rennlist where someone else asks the question I was afraid I'd get flamed for asking or have to admit I DID read the manual and still didn't get it. Medical school was easier... but the bodies were no way as sweeet.

Don't feel bad, man - my buddy and I traded drives (he has a nice 996) for a bit and his first question was "What is the deal with all these switches?"

When I drove his 996 I was asking why his car felt like driving a Honda Accord (albeit a fast one) :-)

A friend drove mine - his first question was, "why so many guages for the oil?"

Marc
(forgive him, he drives an Audi).

I had to come on to the forum and ask where the windshield washer fluid is added. In NJ you can't pump your own fuel, so I never saw it!

My salesguy had no clue what any of the switches were, or how to work the alarm, but he drove the car for weeks before I got out there.
