Is it the factory unit or an aftermarket? In any case, I took my factory tape deck to a outfit here in NC who said that it was old and wouldn't be worth repairing unless I just wanted it done. The bill was looking to be around 600 bucks so I replaced it with a brand new Kenwood CD deck for 375. That was 3-1/2 years ago.

Ian, Just throw it away and replace it with a new head unit and an iPod. Not much money and many more tunes than a CD or changer.

Ditto. JUst did it- took out the stacker and ran with the ipod. and my head unit is the original porsche one and is not so good, but the ipod option is much better than the stacker in the boot which can't handle the stiff suspension. As soon as I work out the head unit change I am going to do it.

Repair costs are usually too high, sad reality, unless it's really high-end than it's probably not worth it. On this page you can see what's around these days. I went for the Pioneer MP3 which fits nicely and discretely into the dash.

Idem, removed the original Blaupunkt K-7, and have just installed a Becker Mexico Pro, but only because my life long music collection is now playable in my car thanks to the i-Pod connection box offered as an accessory. Priced in France, (incl. 19.3% tva) for the total package was about 95O Euros ($1150). Not a give away but then neither are my memories to "Flower Power and Rock ‘n Roll"...

Or replace with unit that has a CD player in it and a MP3 front jack to connect your ipod.

Nice unit. DENON writeup says it has a proprietary cd transport mechanism. So it looks like you better find a DENON certified repair shop. Good luck.

Hmm...if it was that expensive - why did it break?

I can fix it! Send me $2500 and it will work like new!

Denon won't help? At that price, they ought to offer repair centers.
