it plays music well . nothing more - nothing less . thats the whole point , no fancy displays with dolphins etc. , no sat-nav or built in tv screen . just music , pure music

however ............................. i think something may have been damaged/misaligned during transport/storage .

Hiya Tafkai
When I got my car the cd would not load , pulled the top off and had a look see , the rollers that run the cd in and out had come from togetherness , put the parts back in place and alls good again .
Have you had a look see under the "hood" ?

I had a similar issue with a Volvo 6 pack changer. If you are very careful you can take the unit apart, but take pictures as you do. Try to get an exploded parts diagram to help you.

Slightly off-topic, but is that a wooden dash I see in the pics???

Ex tv & video service engineer here, cd players used to be a stock in trade, however some 20 years out of that loop now. What is it not doing? from very vague memory things happen in this sequence
disc loads into mechanism, the disc spins and the laser tries (about 3 times) to read the table of contents. This can be seen as the laser pulsing it's lens up and down. Always worth therefore cleaning the lens with a tissue as this can cure a player from not reading discs. If the disc spins but the laser does'nt move likely to be the laser unit (RAFOC) though don't dicount it being the electronics either. Problem nowadays is the labour charge and spare parts are so expensive people prefer to throw away.....very green!

i've got som, ebody picking it up and posting it to base systems in preston .
they will inspect it and clean the lens for a tenner .
thats all they say they can do as they doont deal with denon , if it needs new parts its off to usa , if that doesnt work back to japan
