so I'm supposed to do a vavle adjustment in the spring, and I'm wondering if I should get new covers (Turbo covers) or have the old repainted? I would only repaint the exterior for obvious reasons I think excellence has an advertiser with Turbo covers and they don't seem real expensive. Thanks for the responses.....
Turbo covers will not fit the 964....I think that's for 930 and 965. 964 has rubber seals while turbos are using paper seals. 964 also has twin plugs.
964 covers are expensive, so if yours are not leaking, paint it...
If they leak, buy either Porsche parts (very expensive) or machined ones (like Imagine Auto's). Don't buy those aftermarket casting covers... I had bad experience with them...
Yes, the OEM parts are very expensive indeed, although I remember hearing some people have had good experiences with aftermarket items. I was luck to get my upper covers for around £40 but these are over £300 from Porsche...I got lucky but I needed new ones as mine were slightly 'warped'....I wouldn't replace them if you have noleaks....
Hargett Precision are not a Rennlist sponsor and, in general, group buys are organized with sponsors (unless a company carries a products that no sponsor does).
The IA and hargett covers are the same , come off the same mill . Its just the looks of the top side thats
changed , so if you wanted to do a group buy from IA for one style or the other , I would think it might be able to be done via IA . You just might be able to request a custom top for the group buy .
If you check the undersides of the two covers IA and hargett , you can see , I think , same same .
Now all we need is someone to get all this organized.
I nominate marc. he's good at this kind of thing.
(Or maybe hawk for getting this whole discussion going in the first place.)
