Spoiler Control Module PN
I have searched the fourms and have not found anything. I have a 89 C4 and the spoiler control module is missing. The part number I need according to Porsche is 964 618 142 00. I can buy a used one, but it is from a newer model and has a PN of 964 618 212 00. Does any one know if I can use this module?
Are the electronics different? Is the connector the same?

Manual rear spoiler operation modified.
General Information:
A new version rear spoiler control unit, Part Number 964 618 212 00, is installed from production date February 1992. With the introduction of the new control unit, the manual operation of the rear spoiler at road speeds between 0 and 50 mph changed as follows:
- At road speeds between 10 and 50 mph, brief actuation of the spoiler switch in the center console activates the spoiler.
- At road speeds below approximately 10 mph, the spoiler switch needs to remain activated until the spoiler reaches the desired position.
- When decelerating from speeds above 50 mph, the spoiler can be operated manually at speeds between 50 and 0 mph.
Service Information:- New version control unit can be installed in all 911 Carrera 2/4 models prior to the above production date.
- Model year 1989 (K) and 1990 (L) vehicles still need the additional control unit located under the right seat.
- Manual activation of the spoiler on 1989 (K) model cars is only possible with the service switch under the engine lid.

Hi CH,
This is a quote from Adrian from a post regarding the spoiler modules:
964 618 142 00 is what is called the standby unit or "additional control unit" in the schematics. In conjunction with that , 89' and 90' have the 911 618 112 00 module. The >90' cars only have the 964 618 212 00 module. Having said this, the 964 618 212 00 is not a replacement for 964 618 142 00. What module do you need? Does it have an eleven pin connector? If so, then it is a 911 618 112 00 and I have a spare unit which you can have ( my car is a 91' which takes the later module only)
I'm not sure if you can swap out an old 911 618 112 00 with a 964 618 212 00 and delete the 964 618 142 00. Here's a view of the modules:catalogue pdf

1989 and 1990 have two control units related to the rear spoiler. One opens the sopiler at 80 kph (50 mph) the other is an emergency standy control unit which opens the spoiler at 115 kph (72 mph) if the first one fails. This system was removed for model year 1991.

The connector under my passenger seat has 12 pins, pin 6 has a male end sticking out. I took a look and I have the stby unit (964 618 142 00). It is a black relay like box. According to JasonAndreas post I should be able to use either 964 618 112 00 OR 964 618 212 00

It’s not often I bring a thread this old back to life. Can any one confirm that a 1990 car can use the new controller 96461821200 as long as 96461814200 is still installed?
i have a spare new controller and want to se if it fixes my spoiler alarm issues.

John, I removed my relay and the spoiler works fine. The module is a backup for the main controller and raises the spoiler at 115kph.
Couple of interesting points:
1) I changed a resister on the control unit which then modified the spoiler raise speed to 120 Kph and the retract speed at 50Kph (indicated speeds).
2) I noticed from time to time the spoiler when it raised itself, sometimes it failed to retract. This was rectified by removing the relay (I read this in the thread about changing the spoiler raise & retract speeds).
3) So, the spoiler, now works fine at the desired raise and retract speeds, but it also eliminated the fault light coming on for second prior to this mod when the spoiler raised.
My logic, the relay is a backup switch only as stated by Adrian. The control unit will work without it. My intermittent issue of the spoiler not retracting when I made the modification was caused by the relay and the control unit sending a signal to raise the spoiler.
Couple of interesting points:

I recently installed 911.618.112.00 on my 1990c2 under the drivers seat and it works fine. I do get the red spoiler alarm light on start up and then it goes away when I start moving.
My fault is intermittent. When I drive off the spoiler alarm light goes off as it should, then it flashes with changes in car attitude, typically braking. This is the same whether the spoiler is down or has been manually raised.
I checked the microswitches and rear connections but I figure the most likely cause is something in the controller unit, maybe a relay as it’s very sensitive to movement. The car had a sunroof leak with a lot of water under the seats, right next to the box. I bought a newer controller for $40 a while back. Now’s the chance to use it, although it was supposed to go in the White car to get the spoiler unit in that car operational.
