Default Fog Lamp Bulbs?

I was wondering how to change the front fog lamp bulbs?

I don't have my owners manual here and figured I would ask the experts here.

I was also wondering if they make the Silver Star replacement bulbs for the 964 fog lamps?

I currently have replaced the head lamps to the Silvver Stars. Much whiter than the fogs are now.

I tried taking the lens off, but no luck. seems there are three screws. one is for adjusting and the other two did not let the lens come off?

Any suggestions and bulb choices??

I did check (months ago) and they do make Silverstar fog bulbs, like $26/ea! I have heard issues of having too hot of bulbs resulting in toasted wires. Verdict is still out in my book.

FWIW, when I saw the bulbs at AutoZone, they had a little metal tab on thier base. Seems like they might be screwed onto the fog light assembly.

After you take out the two mounting screws gently pry the light assembly out by the seam on the grey plastic housing just behind the screw. If you look closely you'll see that the lense itself is bonded to a plastic body that is in turn attached to a housing via the two screws and sealed with a rubber gasket at the back. DON't try prying on the glass ! Gently prying forward on the seam of the grey plastic piece from side to side will free it up. Once the front half of the light assembly comes off you'll see how easy it is to replace the bulb.

Hmmm- I thought the fog assembly was a sealed unit. How do you "reseal" it then?

Geoff - it is not sealed.

Before I removed them for the MA Shaw unit, I had replaced a bulb with a PIAA Xenon-gas bulb and it worked fine.

Marc,

Do you still have your old units. I'd be interested in one if you still have them.

Cheers,

I may have. I replaced one because it was cracked. Then I replaced the other because the new one made the old one look..... well - old.

I'm sure I kept the old ones, so I can probably help you out (for a hugely inflated price of course! )

Found it. I have a RHS fog light. Not cracked - only problem with it is that it only has one of the screws which holds the front and back parts together, so you would need the screw from your old light (assuming it's the rhs you need).

I have a lhs as well, but that is cracked and also has a snapped bolt.

I think I need the lhs one ! Mine's got a hole in the lens. I'll check when I get home...so long as I can see...I'm going on a bit of a session tonight !

Cheers,

Mark 90C2.

If you would prefer a crack rather than a hole, you're welcome to my LHS lens for free.

G/f is Sandrine.

Thanks, I was just a bit afraid to pry too hard. Those things are stuck together pretty tight. I will give it another shot. Any one know any part numbers for PIAA of Silver Star replacements or a good source other than AutoZone??
