I've never owned an aircooled turbo of any generation so cannot speak to that feeling. But my experience within my humble trio, I will take them in this order all day long. 1.- 964 C4, 2.- 993 C4S, 3.- 993 C2S. I personally prefer the AWD motion on the 9934S. I bought these cars for investment and events, not for performance, I don't wrench, track or race. Never driven a 964 C2 so cannot speak to that either, but as far as feel, I am with Cobalt on that one. I love love the original old school feel, you can tell and feel the hand assembly and I much prefer to drive the 964 overall. Porsche duped everyone with the 993 C2S through very limited production and marketing. And also that most of us are suckerzzz for ample derrieres... The car is essentially a base 993 C2 with a wide body frame and a few minor interior trimmings to make you feel good. Especially the 'Carrera S' inscription inside the RPM Gauge. That was the final FU from Porsche to justify the added price tag and two decades plus of everyone going nuts trying to find these cars ranging from collectible Unicorns to 'good deal' and bargains. I forgot how many new RLs have pm'd me asking about C2S ownership. Half of them have never owned a Porsche before let alone air cooled. It's just a 'Fad' or an insatiable need to punch your bragging rights ticket for the next cars and coffee. Laughable sometimes. I don't agree with that, but I am always happy to help as others so selflessly helped me when I was searching and I continue to thank them for that, those of you know who you are.
Whatever happend to that 993 Turbo from Lux motors, did someone pick it up? $97 K for a 993 Turbo is too good to be true. Something's up there? See you on the next...

Not wanting to divert this thread too far off topic but I wanted to comment about the 993 C2S. Years ago when the 993 was just starting its upward trajectory I had read from many that the S didn’t offer a better driving experience and if anything the added weight in the rear gave up some performance to the NB. I had read very similar review regarding the widebody G Body M491.

for me... I will never own another 4wd 911.
You cannot go wrong with a RWD 911. Whether it’s a 964, 993, 997, or whatever. But after owning several RS’s. It hard to live with a bone stock 993/964. With proper set up, brakes, sway bars, bushings, coil overs these cars really come alive. both 964 and 993 are super fun.
964’s are being converted to singers and other back dates. Soo they are being consumed by aftermarket tuners which makes them even more scarce. A good 964 C2 is just very hard to come by soo just that alone. I believe the values have eclipsed a regular 993 NB and will continue to rise as long as tuners continue to use the chassis.

A few questions:
• Curious what a fair market value of this would be?
•To what extend does being in Canada effect the price? I’m relatively close to Montana and could drive the car down to the border, but I’m not sure how much of a pain in the *** the cross-border purchase is for Americans.

I spent a good deal of time researching how to import a 25+ year old car into the US since I found the right car in Vancouver. The American buyer needs to fill out a FMVSS form from NHTSA, an EPA form and the US Customs Import form. The first 2 forms to declare the vehicle exempt from US Federal rules and the last form to show proper importation. All forms must be stamped by the Customs agent. They'll charge duty (comes to ~3%) if the vehicle has never previously been imported to the US. Mine was previously a US car before going to Canada, so duty was waived coming back in. I told the border guard that I'm importing the 964 and they sent me to the Customs House. The Customs agent there reviewed my passport, the bill of sale, forms, and stamped everything, and sent me on my way with the 964 legally imported back in. It probably took me an additional 30 minutes more to cross back into the US. Easy peasy.
Exception is California buyers, since California have pain in the butt vehicle emissions rules.
Beautiful car, btw. No matter what you choose to do, good luck!

92 c4 for sale. $25k. is it worth it
Hello, My neighbor is selling his 92 c4 cab its leaking oil but runs great and paint is good and interior is in good condition. I am meeting with him today to find out more.
from what I know he is asking $25k. so even if it needs an engine rebuilt at worse there is still meat left for resale, right?
I want to find out more. looks like from past post here cabs c4 brought around 36k-40k or so. I don't know if its worth perusing it.
I would love to own a 964 for a year or so. I would only want to buy it for the love of restoring it and hoping to break even at the end.

Have had my C2 almost two years now. Best driving car I have ever owned. A few subtle tweaks to the suspension, engine (chip) and cosmetics and it looks as good as it drives. Funnily enough, having always been an "F" car guy, I now am even more obsessed with Porsche than I ever was about Ferrari. A pic included of my two babies.

^^ depends on the car, model, miles, condition, color, etc.
Both pretty close. Much easier to find a nice 993 for reasonable money. Not so with the 964.
The 964 turbo 3.6 trumps the 993TT by almost double but the 3.3lT is about the same maybe a little less than the 993 turbos on average. I haven't seen a 993TT top $150k my friends 993TT with 23k miles sold on BaT in near perfect condition low miles for $140+5%
