Default 964 C2 rotors

Can't find this in my books - just wanted to verify. Adrian's book says the thickness should be 24mm rear and 28mm front. Someone else posted that 1.4mm is all you can lose before they're toast. I measured my rears at 23.5mm with some minor grooving and still have pretty thick pad left.

I'm thinking a turning on a good machine and new pads would get me more life out of them - but after reading some of the posts I'm thinking I should leave well enough alone. They work fine now. Leave them? What if they squeal? (either my fronts or rears do, don't remember now because car hasn't run for couple of months and won't run for another couple of months).

For a stock C2 the minimum thickness after machining is 26.6mm front and 22.6mm rear. The wear limits are 26.0mm and 22.0mm. Maximum brake disc thickness tolerance is 0.02mm. Maximum brake disc lateral runout is 0.05mm and the lateral runout of the wheel hub is the same. The maximum lateral runout of a brake disc when fitted is 0.1mm and the maximum peak-to-valley surface finish after machining is 0.006mm.

I believe that info is in the Porsche factory shop manuals.

The specs for the C4 and C4 TurboLook are given on pages 46-03 & 46-04 and for the C2, RS and C2 TurboLook on pages 46-0101 - 46-0104.

Jason, BTW in the end I remained Original Spec. Thanks again for your help on my request for that info last week. You saved me some money in the end, many thanks...
Marc.
