@rsabeebe funny timing. I just got my QuickJack all setup today!

also in case anyone else has one there is an easy hack to make it much easier to shuttle around on the garage floor and position it under the car: install 3 of these style bearings (I used 5/8) from amazon. Just stick them (and the 1 piece of wood) on with Gorilla tape or some kind of strong double sided tape. Works like a charm !

^OT, but nice Mini! You've two iconic cars, both a blast to drive but in different ways. Enjoy

I also did this mod over my winter stay-cation. It works great. I got the rollers from Harbor Freight and the wood is basically scrap from Home Depot. Total cost was about $10. This is the YouTube video with info about where to place the rollers so they get out of the way when lifting. The guy talks a lot up front. Skip to 3:50 for the mod details.

@mgordon18 yup! I found that vid on the pelican forum.

I just don’t know why he uses a 1” at the back. 5/8” works fine so if you are buying them in a multipack you don’t need to waste a bunch of parts and $. Just use 5/8 in all 3 places.

i haven't done the casters yet, but knew of the mod and hope to get around to it. with low cars, i found it beneficial to lay wood into the recesses of the lift and use pucks to lift the cars. you do have to be careful of the lower rockers, but that's just positioning so you don't apply pressure to the back edge of the rocker under the car. you can see in the pic above that i have pucks in the chassis and the wood helps to keep the profile as low as possible, but it also provides sufficient clearance when you begin lifting the car. works well for me. unless i drive the car on something prior, it's simply too low to use either provided set of blocks for lifting. i like that the pucks use the chassis points also. pucks were bought here on RL.

@das76 - i used to have a 1275GT Clubman. going back many years, but that was the closest thing to driving a go-kart on the road that i have ever experienced. cool little cars with tons of charm.

Went for a quick drive before the snow storm tomorrow. Had to make it back to see my friend Rey sell his 930 on BaT. Another perfect example he owned that is going to a new home.

Was nice to go for a drive again the conditions have been so bad lately. She liked the cool weather. Now to fix some things I didn't complete last year.

It is amazing how removing the sunroof has changed the car.

the 5000SLX

the idea of getting out my [heavy ***] ramps and using jacks and jackstands to get a car up is insane to me now. the quickjacks are heavy, but they slide around fine and the caster mod eliminates that issue. they're also perfect for porsches, as what you want to work is usually very accessible. safety factor is an improvement also.

i'm happy to not have to drag these things around anymore. those are 12" wide.

looks like the 5000SLX isn't offered anymore?

@Achtung964 I have the 5000TL and it fits and is 24" max lifting height. Any extra few inches is handy! (at least that's what she said )
the 5000TLX will be too long

I love it! i'm right in the middle of a short shift kit install. I couldn't imagine doing it with any lower height.
