I used to run a "stick-on" plate on the front of my FD3S no probs. Passed the MOT and many a police drive-by without issue.
I was torn between a full smooth and a shave of the plate recess down to 5 digit size on the 964. In the end I went with the later, but I do love the fully smothed look

Just checked the DVLA rules and as long as the plate is reflective (along with correct digit/margin sizing etc) it appears to be ok - presumably for clarity when getting photographed by a speed camera.
Was yours reflective Chris? If so where did you get it from?

Yup, mine was reflective. A chap on Mazda Rotary Club had a graphics business and produced them, but that was a good while ago now.
Google could be your friend on this one, or i'd try a search on Jap car forum or supercar forum (if there's such a thing?) as they seem to run them.
