i am indeed Steve cant wait it'll be my first time there. The 964 is definately destined for a european trip though next year.
STill lots to find out about the 964 first though. I need all new rear lights really so im scouting about for those. So far ive fiddled with bits and bobs to make her look better but nothing mechanical just yet.
On the subject of the rear reflector strip, is it the same one as used on the 993 would you happen to know??

Nope it's 964 only. Keep scouring eBay and otherwise a US seller has the side rear indicators in stock.

Well after looking for a while whilst I was on hols it came up on PH at Portiacraft and I called and bought it there and then.
I then asked on PH and got a less than favourable response about them from the usual doom mungers and generally those that have no experience of them so my purchase was based on a PPI which showed the car to be a goodun.
It has 18 stamps from opc and Indys ( mostly JZM) so the engines been maintained but cosmetically it needed some improvements.
To me it had the right spec, cups, teardrops, sport seats and a good maintenance schedule with plenty of bills.
I'd never heard of Plastic Induction before and I've no idea if its going to prevent it needing a rebuild at some point though I did get rather hung up about finding one with a recent engine build for a while.
Anyhow the car as advertised with a full service and two days of the mechanic going through the engine cost me 17k which I figured was ok. I guess by the time I've finished with improvements ill be in for circa 18.5k . At that price I'm fairly confident my money's pretty safe and I found portiacraft to be honest and fair in terms of their description of the car although I'm still learning about it.
The PPI by Peter Morgan showed the car to be pretty good with no rust or ever any panel damage .

 

Plastic (late type) or alloy (early type) induction has absolutely no bearing at all on when a car may or may not need a rebuild

Its slightly more efficient, lighter and at a guess cheaper to maufacture, or would have been 20 years ago at least

It also carried over the the non varioram 993 IIRC (I stand to be corrected by those with greater knowledge on that)
