Default Rear seat 964 difference 89-90, 91-94

Anyone knows if it is a big deal to mount 964 91-94 rear seats on my 964 C4 -90?

They changed the rear seat from -91 to a better model with release button on the top instead of down in the middle.

So I wonder if anyone has had this experience, is it a bolt on thing or do you have to drill new holes, weld nuts etc?

Grateful for answers!

Patrik

I have a cab with the rear seat delete option. I have been doing much research into what is needed to add the rears (have kids) and the later model seats will work just fine. The seats I am installing have the top release button and are out of a 993. Main difference is in the stitch pattern on the seats in 993s... so if that is a concern, beware. I am not certain what year they went to the curved pattern. I suspect it was at the model change to 993.

They have exactly the same mounting hardware.

Hope this helps!

Mark, you have a -92, so a later reat seat will fit into your -92,
but my question is if the 89-90 models have the same mounting hardware as yours, beacause they changed the model from -91 to the top relase button.

Yes they do because I have the later model versions retrofitted to my 1989 C4. They are much more user friendly.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Thank you Adrian for your answer, I have already spotted a pair of -92 rear seats in mint condition, I'm gonna call the seller tomorrow and buy them!

Thanks again!

Best Regards,

Patrik Dahlberg from a snowy Sweden!

Sorry I wasn't clear.

They will work. The hardware is all the same, the seat itself was changed.

I believe the cab seats are shorter that the seats for the coupe/targa. I had some 993 seats in my '91 cab and the top would open fine but the boot would not fit properly.

Tell us more. With the baby on the way, I may add rear seats to our Cab, but I have to find them in Classic Gray.

hawk, getting them in classic grey is no problem. That is a fairly popular color.

I was trying to find them in Light Grey, not an easy task. Ended up going with Classic Grey since my interior is a 2-tone deal anyhow.

Putting a baby seat back there is a whole other discussion. Not sure a rear facing seat will have enough room no matter what you do. I think there are other threads on this.

As for the cab rear seats being different, I'd sure like to hear more too. I can't see how they could be any different to allow for the boot. Seems like it would simply slip behind the seats. The mounting points are the same no matter what.

My cab seat measures 1'7" from the top of the bottom seat to the top of the back. This is the style with the bottom release pull.

EDIT: mine also measures 13.5"+/- from the hinge.

Just to add to the data:
Measuring the seat back only: The seats I bought (out of a 993 coupe) measure 13.5" from the "pivot ear" to the top of the seat back. Can't measure overall from seat bottom since they aren't in the car yet.
