Default Falling USD

I gotta say that the collapse of the US Dollar is making buying porsche parts out of the US much more attractive.

Parts costs have dropped between 30% and 40% in the last 18 months.

Its a great time for a rebuild.

the only problem we have in teh UK is import tax which for some reason they include shipping in the calculation just to rip us off some more.
It kind of nullifies the savings you make in the first place.

All I need to do is sweet talk my cousin in Arizona into posting some bilsteins as gifts

The flip side to that is it is also depreciating our p-cars up here in Canada. It's getting cheaper to go down to the states and bring one up. I paid close to $32,000 Canadian for my '91 964 C2 Cab....4 months ago. I know I can easily duplicate it down in California for around $20k US.

I have noticed the prices for 964s have dropped dramatically in canada since 2003. I think that there is so many sales of newer porsches right now that the interest/demand for older 964s is low, and you might be right about the USD also affecting the price.

I have come to the conclusion I will never get anywhere close to what I paid for my car, and that it will just have to be a 'love of the car' kinda writeoff.

What I am noticing right now is that if I price parts at my local porsche dealership, they have not dropped their pricing in line with the increased buying power of our dollar, so I can get dramatically better pricing from dealerships across the border.

(And other things like the TCP supercharger kit become more reasonable when you aren't adding 40% + tax to the price)
