Default Flushing brake fluid

How many cans of ATE Super Blue are required to flush the brakes on a 90 C2? Should I order 2 or 3 cans?

Two should do the brake lines and clutch slave cylinder, with a bit left over for subsequent bleeds.

One note on ATE Blue. The blue dye will tend to leave a 'ring around the bowl' in the brake fluid resevoir, making it hard to tell the actual level inside without unscrewing the cap and taking a look, due to the staining of the plastic.

ATE Type 200 (a.k.a. ATE Gold) is the same fluid, without the blue dye, thus avoiding this problem and priced the same as ATE Blue.

Some people alternate between Blue and Gold, as it makes it easy to tell when you've flushed the system completely (just wait for the color to change).

Are you using a Motive to assist in the fluid flush?

Best of luck,

FWIW, I use ATE Gold, as, as Lewis points out, the blue will stain the white plastic.

I find one can more than adequate for a flush. I'm one who alternates between blue and gold as it makes it very easy to see when the old has been replaced.

Like Tom mentioned, one can will be enough. But I always order them in two's or three's

Be sure to bleed the clutch while your at it. You'll be amazed at what that fluid will look like...

I ordered a Motive off evilbay. Figure I can use it on the Benz also as its a PITA to bleed by pumping the pedal.
Now if i can only find one of those 1/2" 10mm torque sockets local. My mission for this weekend.
Anybody want to stop by on Dec 27 we could always use the guidance. Seeing as we are both engineers I am sure we can make this very difficult
Looking forward to the adventure. My Girlfriend promised to come by to make sure we arent stuck under the car and lift!

What ID tubing is required for the nipples on the bleeder valves?

I have a waste fluid bottle from a useless vaccum bleeder with the hose on it. Its just aquarium air hose size.

In Garrett's write-up, he talks about this:

"Following the brake bleed, I followed Adrian's good instructions for bleeding the accumulator (black ball), then the solenoid block. This was quite easy to do. I was amazed that out of the accumulator came BLACK brake fluid! Whoa!!! I wonder how old the fluid was!! Wish I had the old records!! "

Are the accumulator and solenoid block specific to the C4?

I am changing out the Bias valve also to a 55 bar valve. Is there an additional step to take in bleeding this or will it self bleed with the rest of the system?
