I will sir, it's being documented thoroughly I'm so excited as I've never done anything like this!!

I am going to keep original front & rear seats and get them done in black leather with black suede centre inserts so I can have a comfort version spec if I want to change it back as the Recaro seats might just be too hard, but it gives me the option.

It's the brakes, I'm into just powder coating them but I might just get that painting kit if it's easier to keep them on whilst doing it.

Default Brake Caliper Lettering

Marc,

Did you re-do the lettering on your calipers or paint around it? I have been trying to figure out the best way to re-paint the raised PORSCHE letters on my front calipers but haven't come up with an idea that is 1) fairly easy and 2) good quality. Because they are raised cast letters on my '90 C2 the stick-ons available from places like xenon-mods won't work.

Lookin good!

Jim,

My 1991 calipers had flat lettering so I just painted over them and put on the decals.

I think others here who have done the same mod. but had the raised letters just used a grinder to remove the raised letters and then applied the decals.

Marc S. - Did you just move the spoiler control from the center console to the lower dash? I am thinking that the 91's had the spoiler control to begin with (unlike my '89)?

Gorgeous cars BTW!

Cheers,

Jim... Another thing that you could try is to lightly sand the raised lettering so that it is uniformly raised. (Make sense?) You could buy a brayer to apply paint to it after you paint your calipers. The brayer, or braying tool is a smaller, hard plastic version of a paint roller. Since it's hard plastic (or hard rubber) you could apply paint except to the very top, flat surface of the lettering on the caliper.

When I was a kid my Mom would make her own X-Mas cards by using a woodcut block. She would cut the reverse design in the block... Use the tool to apply the paint, then press the block on paper to transfer the design. It's basically the same principle.

Howard, what size wheels and tires are you running, and do you have spacers on there?

What size tires? they seem to fill the arches quite nicely.

Thanks man!

We need to get that C4 of yours out to play on hwy 35 one of these days! You taken it along those backroad twisties yet? Tom W originally got me hooked on that drive - 92 onto 35 thru Big Basin redwoods to Santa Cruz and then back along the coast on HWY 1.

I have done that drive. Not in the C4, but in the S4 coming back from Laguna Seca. It was the moment I knew I had to get a p-car. My S4 was broken (again) from the track (long story). But the cool part was we started following two black 993 C4S's coming back up HWY 1. We could hear that flat six over my v8. It was just stunning. They were ripping through the corners. Of course on that kind of straight hwy they could not drop the S4, but it didn't matter. The romance of owning a pcar had set in. < me pops out of my glossy stare >.

Yeah! anyways, I am up for a drive. Is there any club GTG's or things by there? I would love to go. I think I might cut the day short tomorrow and do just that drive now that you mention it. Good op for some photos.

Hi Howard,

No, the switch to control up/down is still in the lower centre console.

This switch allows me to bypass the speed sensor input into the spoiler contorl unit so the spoiler does not go up/down based on car speed. Like Garrett, I found it a pest to have the spoiler going up and down at the track so this allows me to keep the spoiler either up or down where I want it.

Marc
p.s. Very nice looking car - you've certainly done lots of work on it!
