Another spring and shock question
Anybody used Intrax Purple lowering springs with M030 shocks? The number on the springs say 81-004 but when I look up on line I see a number 65.1.002. These came off a RS America with 26K miles. Would the shocks still be good enough to reuse or should I get new ones. Would these be correct for a 91 C2 with the later style rear shocks? Havent bought them yet so want to get any help I could.
Tried a search on here but came up with nothing.
Thanks

jimq, hey you changed your photo! My friend, my BOGE struts and shocks from Porsche Original Parts, fitted, ride firm enough on the assorted streets that beat our Porsches up, installed because they were made for my model and year, and many many months later, I have no regrets,..Oh yes I do, I wish I were in Florida again,..Went to CAP training in Melbourne, mid 1960's,. The years go by, enjoy the driving, let the Porsche Garage do the work,. It'll give you more time to play with the MB 230 SL, know them well, my father worked for MB North America, but that was also long ago,. All my best with some advice that's worth nothing,....

Jim,
I put a set of Intrax springs on my '90 C2. These progressive springs are euro manufactured for the Porsche application and for what it's worth the specialist who did my subsequent alignment and corner balance commented that the springs brought the height of the car exactly to the height we expected based on the specs (no rate inconsistency). I used Bilstein HDs for shocks and the whole package strikes just the right balance for my 90/10 street/track usage (although my wife pretty much refuses to drive with me because "it rides too much like a sports car").
I picked mine up on eBay but the specific part number was 65.1.002 as indicated on suppliers websites such as http://www.drivewire.com/performance...ngsprings.html.

Jim G.

Awesome timing for this post. I have seen these Intrax springs but had dismissed them out of hand as I hadn't heard of them and was concerned they were simply a cheap lowering set made for the tunerboyz.
C24FUN, how do you like the ride? About how much of a drop did you get? One should expect these to also fit a C4 right?
I'd bet my driving will more like 98/2 on road/track. I'll do a few DE's but I'm not racing as I already have too many expensive hobbies. I just want a better asthetic look. If it happens to improve hanling, so much the better. I'll also be using the Bilstein's.

I finally got ahold of the manufacture and the 65.1.002 is a kit number for the springs. The actual springs are 81-004. They lower 1 1/2" both corners. So now my question is more how the ride is for M030 shocks for 95% strreet 5% autocross and no wife to bitch

C4Russ,
These springs certainly do a lot to bring the North American 964s down to a more appealing height (about 1.5" all around) without getting so rediculous you can't do a proper wheel alignment. Combined with the Bilstien HDs my car now has that "skateboard" handling that seemed to be missing before. Whether it's from tossing the original shocks, characteristics of the new springs, just the lower center of gravity or a combination of all three, it's definitely an improvement. I would say it's an ideal setup for spirited driving and occassional track use as long as you don't mind a little bit more "feel of the road" in the seat of your pants.
