Have these ever been available in the UK?

I wouldn't mind one, a lot more useful than the rear seats

Some time ago I spoke to Original Fit Interiors in OR about a rear shelf like the OEM Porsche shelf and he offered to make one for alot less than the OEM units were costing at the time. He can also design it to accomodate speakers or special storage requirements. I understand that the OEM unit is heavier than the rear seats as it is essentially plywood with a carpet finish. Yeah, that would be a nice addition to my car...
Never thought about that option.

We have a 93 C2 cab with rear seat delete. The good thing about it is that they have some added storage compartments that unfortunately cannot be locked but.... The downside according to the Mrs. is that while we can't and do not want a third person in the car anyway, the seats if up, would provide more space to put her stuff than the small compartments offer.

The compartments should lock with the doors if they are stock. I have a 1993 and they lock. You can open a compartment and lock the doors with it open and see where the locking pin/rod comes out (if it is working on your car)

It may be that it only locks in the cabriolets....I thought I remember reading that somewhere in a brochure or something that they lock in the cabriolets since they are "open" cars...

I believe there are different styles of these. The one I owned had locking doors and two luggage bars near the front. I think the one's made for the RSA's don't have the locks or the luggage bars. Probably a weight issue. But these things are pretty heavy.

These were built by Porsche for the use in cars that did not get rear seats.

If they left it out people could sit in the wells with no safty belts, which is not legal. I think the Euro 964 RS did not get the storage box.

It is quite heavy, but I like it better than the rear seats. Great place to hide stuff..

I just lay stuff on the seats and fold the backs down. Hides stuff just fine.!

If you have the RS/RSA luggage dump you can retrofit the cabriolet/speedster locks.
