Default cracked wheel repair stress ?

had tires balanced yesterday and discovered both rear cup wheels cracked on inside lip.I did search the forum, and find the consensus was to replace them especially if the car is tracked. I'm the 3rd owner, she's got 70k on her(I've put 5k of it since may when I got her)she's my daily driver, with the occasionally spirited cornering. if I really want to get after it, I take my 986S out.
the suspension is a little tired, will replace this after i finish marrying my oldest daughter off, but would it have contributed to the wheels cracking? If I repaired them would they be able to handle the stress of the above mentioned with the new suspension? ( bilstein/h&r combo). Is this a common occurence of these wheels, or is the age a factor(93 c2)? thanks for any input

I run on a welded-up rear cup 1. The wheel shop said it's as good as new - except for the welded appearance. So far, so good.

I hear that if you have low tire pressure and curb the wheel, or hit a big pothole, that will do the trick.

Can't imagine it happening on my D-90's. They were built to last.

My tire actually leaked air from this crack.

Here's the repair:
