2+2 standard in convertible?
Looking at getting a convertible 964. Are the rear seats standard / optional / or never installed? Can I install rear seats in? Thanks

the 2+2 is standard, but can be deleted by original owner upon order, or by CO upon modification. I got one that was deleted by OO. Nice to have storage, as there's not really any usable leg room in the car anyway.

I heard it was optional to delete the seats and get the storage as well, but in reality it seems to me that almost all the 92-94 cabs have no rear seats...seems like the seats were more of a special order in the later 964's...could just be the cars I have seen though. I would rather have the seats- good for occasional rides, especially girls (not to generalize, but they are typically smaller than guys), but I have the storage in my '93

When I was shopping for mine, it seemed there were more cars with seats. Probably because I wanted the shelf as it would be more comfy for my back seat passenger. I looked only at 964's but closely at the '92s and newer, maybe the ones with seats were the older ones, I don't remember.

I have a couple of little kids (and a wife who was questioning my sanity) so when I went shopping therear seat option was a critical point for me.
The later 964 years they made the rear box standard since the seats were such a rare choice in the cabs.
You can convert... I am in the middle of doing just that. Prices range from $400-600USD. My rear seats are on the way. The most "difficult" part to deal with so far is the center (seat back) pivot. This needs to be tack welded or riveted in.
I haven't done the conversion yet, but the research I have done told me I need:
Seat backs
Seat bottoms
Center pivot
Seat Belts
The other needed holes and such are already in the rear pan of the car. You just need to cut a little hole in the carpet where the center seat belt holes and seat back pivots are.
Hope this helps.
