whatever the case, the buyer in this auction seems to have gotten a pretty good deal

I got a reply from the buyer too:
"Hello Mark:
Thank you very much for the info. I'd love to be able to get down to the bottom of this.
Regards,
Rick"
Hopefully, he'll be able to sort it out.

Same thing happened to me...I sold a Harley a couple of weeks ago on ebay and the week after my auction ended (the bike sold for $12,700) a friend of mine said he saw it back on ebay. I knew that couldn't be right because my buyer hadn't even picked the bike up yet. The bike was still sitting in my garage. I looked into it and what had happened was that someone had just copied my pictures and my item description (word for word) and tried to pass it off as theirs. They had a "buy-it-now" of $6200. Interested parties were asked to send payment for the bike, then it would be shipped to their door, free of charge. I emailed the seller and called BS on him. I reported him to Ebay and they cancelled the auction. Buyer beware! You just never know...

An update from fam124 (the eBay buyer):
"Hello again:
I just spoke to this guy at ckauto (the current auction seller) and he really has the car and is legit. Somehow the scammer copied ck's auction, used a false identity, etc. I am just trying to figure out how the scam artist used an identity that has over 600 positive feedbacks???
Regards,
Rick"
Thankfully I do not think he has lost any money in the scam.

This crook is desperate to have someone wire him some CASH to hold this car. I can't believe anyone would, but there is a chance. Note that the phone number is an Iowa number, but ad shows a New York address.

Autotrader is full of scams as well. There are ads for 996 TTs for 5,900, and stuff like that. Or a 2002 Boxster S for 7K. They all claim to be in NY zip code 10001, but they all have numbers in South Carolina, Illonois, etc.
