Default Engine Stand / Adapter

Since I have my engine out I have to buy an engine stand (or at least a 911 adapter for an engine stand)

I have searched through the threads and seen people mention:

http://www.mainelycustombydesign.com...aintenance.htm
(They have an irritating website if you are trying to order from Canada)

and the P-201 from Pelican Parts.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item6
(This one seems retarded expensive)

Does anyone have any recommendations on one of these or some other one?

Thanx
Kirk

I went through the same process. I decided that since I was not going to split the case (just top end work) I did not need the fancy bracket that allowed that. I ended up going to a local machine shop and for $50 having aluminum standoffs fabricated that allowed use of the cheap engine stand and bracket along with the stock bolts used to hold the engine and transmission together. Its pretty easy to see what you need if you look at the clearances around the flywheel but if you want I can take some pictures.

Regards,

Jim

I bought the adapter ring from Mainley Engineering, same one as in Pelican parts. It works fine, and allows the use of a "standard" engine stand. The P201 ring is $200 more, and just gives you a little more room to remove the flywheel bolts. For mine, I had to get those off before I could mount it, as it's a Tiptronic. I then used a $70 engine stand with a "U" shape. Not the "T" shape, as they are not stable enough for my tastes.

The $155 one on Mainly looks exactly like the $155 one on Pelican ( http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item6 ) . It's just the adapter ring unless I'm missing something.. Still need the universal bracket, stand, etc.. which is here for $115 ( http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...CAT006_pg2.htm )

I have a P-201, the holder that lets it rotate, and a home-built stand. It also has the flywheel lock. Any takers? I am moving and need to get rid of some stuff. Was not thinking about selling it, but this thread reminded me I had it from past needs. My 964 has low miles and years away from needing an engine or transmission stand.
