anyone know anything about this? i am looking into doing this because i want to change the way the 964 sounds. i think the lumpy sound comes from the difference in path length between the right side cylinders and the left side cylinders to the collector

If you try you will see that the bolt holes are not in the same place .

"There is a difference between the 964 and 993 heads in several minor areas. First, the exhaust studs in the 964 are oriented 180 degrees from the 993 heads. Fortunately the 993 heads have stud holes at the other corners, so you can orient them correctly for 964. You cannot orient 964 heads to 993 however."

As mentioned, they are not a direct replacement. You also can't simply use a 993 exhaust as there is an oil line that would need to be re-routed to fit.
