Mine weighed in at 2686 pounds with 3/4 tank of gas and all factory items still in the car.
It does have a cup pipe but on the other hand now also has a 6-point seatbelt, spacers front and rear and a front strutbrace.

Finn,

According to my math your car is below 993RS weight after deducting 1/8 fuel and driver. If you race the car (PCA) you would have to stay around 3/8, or slightly less fuel. Do you have a full cage?

My 993 is 2795 with cage, Hoosiers, Fikse's and 1/8th fuel.

I didn't have spare & compressor in the car when they weighted it though so that would add some weight back.

I even have stock sport seats so when I swap Recaro's in, that should take ~40-60 lbs off plus I'm taking all the sound deadening (keeping the carpets) off.

What's the minimum weight (PCA)?

Finn,
993 in C or D class weight must be 3064. Except guys like Bill W who can run in C with a RS and have more horse power/less weight. I still dont get that??? I got sucked into rennlist a few years ago and my upgrades bump me to C class with a stock 3.6... I am at 2963 with 1/8 fuel, I am going to have to put some ballast in to make weight for C.

3064?!

That's a lot of weight! Well, my car ain't race car so at least for now I'm not gonna worry.

What do you mean by that RS talk? I got kinda lost, sorry... (what my question is: could I do that too?)

You can race PCA as a RS or RSCS. That allows you to drop to 2793#. If you install turbo big red brakes you are bumped to C so you may as well take all the advantages of the model. D is probably more competitive than C just by the number of cars. When you exit the track after your session be prepared to be sent directly to the scales. If you are light you are DQ'ed. Simple as that.

Thanks Bill,

Let's say I have PSS-9, RS Sways, camber plates. Stock (non big red) brakes, cage (or roll bar), proper seats & harness, chip and mufflers, would it be better to race as RS or just stock (with heavy car)? What class would that put me in?

I'm thinking if I'm RS, will other cars in that class be blowing by me lika maniacs on straights?

Thanks for all the answers! I promise not to bother you more.

Most people elect to race as a RS. This allows you to reduce weight, upgrade brakes and use the CS wing. The 3.8L motor would be nice but honestly staying with the 3.6 until it gets weak is the most cost effective. Suspension and exhaust is free but the ECU must be stock. Greg Fishman is racing a RS clone with a 3.6 and has done very well over the last two seasons. Get the car reasonable and spent your time and money working on the driving/racing skills. This takes time and last few HP are not the issue. Perfecting a exit speed pass without contact is more important. It also takes a long time to get your laps consistant to within .5 seconds. I have improved tons but have far to go. Concentrate on the driving.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I was adding a receipt to my growing "Porsche File".

On 28-OCT-02 I had new S-03's mounted and had the car balanced.

1990 C4 Cabriolet
Total Weight = 3,169 (Moooo!)
LF=673
RF=663
LR=900
RR=933

Besides being heavy (well, for starters, it's C4) your rear weights are 33 lbs different, I think that's wuite much (if this wasn't with the driver, this would probably be better whrn the driver is in).

I don't recall how much fuel was in the car, but I rarely run around with less than half a tank.

After I had the S-03's put on, we rolled the car onto the scales to see if it was really off, and those were the initial readings. They were pretty darn good (albeit not perfect) so I decided I was happy with the corner balancing and didn't feel like writing a check for a PERFECT corner balance.

It's a cab after all and not exactly a track ready beast! (but I love it anyway!)

OK, sounds good.

Where did you do this? At FVD?

Just wondering since I want to weight my car again after I remove some more stuff...

P.S. Will you be at Sebring on Sunday?

If you & want to, we could put your videocamera into my car for one session (I'll have my video camera mounted to the bar and I'll be recording but since you'd have a capability to do it digitally and have clips from it we could do that if you like).
